Short, easy read. Super comforting and lovely sentiments around healing, forgiveness and family.

Nice perspective, especially when things can feel a bit much. One to pick up again in the future when needed

Quirky writing style, loved that it jumped around the different narratives, kept me wanting to read. Fun weird characters

R. F. Kuang
Loved loved loved the setting and the magical elements but I didn’t really connect with the characters enough to care what happened to them.

So Thrilled for You★ 8.5

Feels like mandatory reading for women between 25-35. A deep dive into British female friendships, motherhood and being a woman. Also birth control in book form

Thirst Trap★ 7.5

I saw someone else describe this as an “affectionate slap in the face” and I think that summarises it pretty well. I’m a sucker for a book on female friendships and as I myself approach my 30th birthday this year, it came at a good time.

A good breakdown of how our bodies work, backed with interesting, easy to swallow science and reflection on the effects of modern diets in general, however there was a weird thread of general fatphobia and severe lack of acknowledgement of the impact of food poverty and the need for many people to rely on cheap, processed foods.

Really enjoyed this. The descriptions of the food made me genuinely hungry and I feel like I’ve met all these characters in real life

Julia Armfield
Interesting, different thing to what I’d normally read.. odd.

The Guest Cat★ 7.0

A bit too much description of the architecture for me but overall a nice read if you want something slower paced. Also, cats

Greek mythology? Good. Strong female protagonist? Good. Throw in some magic? Goood
